Community Engagement
Small Business Advocacy
Beacon considers Small Business Advocacy to be an important part of our mission. Having benefited from the hard work and dedication of many individuals and organizations before us, we believe that we have an active role to play in bolstering the Federal innovation ecosystem.
Our advocacy takes shape through thought leadership in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. Our CEO ML Mackey is the Immediate Past Chair of NSBA, the National Small Business Association, and also serves on the Board of NDIA, the National Defense Industrial Association, where she is the Chair of the Small Business Division. Our President Mike MacEwen serves on the Board of NDIA's New England Chapter. Additional members of the Beacon team hold various non-profit leadership roles in both regional and national trade associations focusing on small business, STEM, and global trade.
Beacon’s non-profit efforts support legislation and policies that ensure a fair and level playing field for the full Defense Industrial Base driving the efficient delivery of small business innovation into the U.S. economy. Beacon team members are recognized contributors to national publications, provide Congressional testimony, and participate in White House and Pentagon meetings on topics related to small business and entrepreneurship.
